vive les vacances * Happy Holidays and Toxic Fumes - Semaine/Week 13 (10-19/11/06)

*Fabrice organised a week of Hanvec-Holidays for himself last week, spending all day every day on-site. He had high hopes to see the end of the work on the bathroom come Sunday, but he discovered that some things just take a little bit longer than expected.

The week started off with a small natural disaster, which would DEFINITELY not have taken place had I been around myself. Fab and his uncle took it upon themselves to burn off some of the bush that the sewrage guy had left in big piles behind the cottage, knowing that Mr Soubigou would need all the space he could get once he was back with his enormous digging-machines. Unfortunately they decided to use petrol, a car tyre and a tractor tyre, plus other un-named toxic substances, to crank up the flames, the result of which was a smouldering pile of grey waste which continued to spew brown fumes around our property (and the neighbours!) for several days......Hmmmmm. Leave the fires to me next time guys.... ; )

The photos below are of the evolution of our 'water closet'/ bathroom, showing the foam-filled underside of the shower recess, and then the various stages of the plasterboard walls, from their steel support structure, to the joining and painting which was started yesterday. Fabrice assures me he's having great fun with this part of the job. I'm itching to get my hands dirty as well, but the smelly products we're splashing around aren't so good for big-bellies like me!

et hop, apres une journée de plus:

et pour finir la semaine:
